Add the potatoes to the water, reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 12-15 minutes or until fork tender.
Drain the potatoes and add to a bowl with the butter, milk, salt and pepper.
Mash the potatoes with a hand held masher until fluffy.
Heat a lightly greased saute pan over medium heat. Poke sausage with a fork, add to the saute pan and cook for 7-8 minutes or until cooked through (you may want to follow the package directions on the amount of time).
Slice sausage into several pieces.
Place a heaping spoonful of mashed potatoes on a plate and top with sliced sausage.
